Continue Browsing TripsWho would not want to visit a country that has been described as the last Shangri-La in the world, where few travellers have journeyed and which today remains one of the most elusive of travel destinations? Slowly, but only slowly, Bhutan is opening its doors to the West, so enabling it to beautifully preserve its ancient traditions. Bhutan promises you an adventure like no other.
Traditionally known as ‘Druk Yul’, meaning ‘Land of the Thunder Dragon’, this tiny Buddhist kingdom, of a similar size to Switzerland, is perched in the great Himalayas between two giant neighbours – Tibet to the north and the Indian states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to the east.
Bhutan first officially opened its doors to the outside world in 1974 with a unique policy of ‘high value, low impact tourism’, upholding the nation’s vision of maintaining its pristine environment, its centuries old traditions and its precious culture intact. It is blessed with breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountain ranges, bountiful natural wonders, an unspoilt vibrant culture, a simple traditional lifestyle, a deeply-held Buddhist religion and truly fascinating festivals. Bhutan leaves a deep and lasting impression on all who visit.
We organise both group and bespoke tours in private vehicles and mountain treks throughout Bhutan for individuals and small groups alike, to suit all aptitudes, abilities and experiences.
